Tragedy struck in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital when a mother of eight, identified as Sukurat Adedoyin, reportedly died following complications from abortion of pregnancy.  Sunday Vanguard gathered that the 33-year-old deceased, who was alleged to have been impregnated by her boyfriend, Alabi Kamilu, 30, sought the help of an auxiliary nurse, Bello Abosede, 34, to terminate the pregnancy.  The Investigating Police Officer, Asake Morowuntonu, said the victim was a married woman and had had eight children. Morowuntonu stated that Kamilu, the alleged boyfriend, forced the deceased to terminate the pregnancy.

32-year-old Liezel Betitta has been arrested for cutting off her husband's penis with a pair of scissors because she was convinced he was having an affair. She believed he was sexually involved with a friend's wife at a building from where he worked in Iloilo City, the Philippines so after her husband, Mark, went out drinking with friends after work then fell asleep at a friend's house, Liezel went over there and found him. Residents of Shendam Close, off Anthony Anyaoku Street, a neighbourhood of Area 11, Abuja, on Tuesday witnessed the discovery of huge cache of money in bags. A combined team of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the army raided three vehicles with several ‘Ghana must go’ bags containing huge sums of money. The vehicles, a Mercedes Benz S350 series with Bauchi plate number, KTG 01 AA, a Lexus SUV Jeep registered in Abuja and marked ABC 77 AKK were all stuffed full money huge bags. The third vehicle, a BMW 640i series unmarked equally had several ‘Ghana must go’ bags at both the back seat and booth. The Senate,  on Wednesday , disclosed that the 2017 budget is missing and alleged that the Nigeria Police stole the documents needed to pass the 2017 budget. The allegations were made following a presentation by the chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, Sen. Former Minister of Education Babalola Borishade has died. He died today April 26th in a hospital in London after battling a lung and heart disease. He was 71. Borishade served as a Nigerian Minister from 1999 till 2011 in different capacities, including Minister of State, Power and Steel. May his soul rest in peace, amen.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 arraigned the immediate past Governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu, and the 2015 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, Umar Nasko, before Justice Aliyu Maiyaki of the Federal High Court sitting in Minna, Niger State on a 6-count charge of fraud to the tune of N3billion. Nasko also served as Chief of Staff and Commissioner for Environment under Aliyu’s administration between 2007 and 2015. Aliyu, fondly called ‘the chief servant’, among other things allegedly diverted N520m from the Niger State Government Security Account domiciled in Zenith Bank account between January and March 2011. Within the same period, the former governor also allegedly diverted a separate N1.7bn from the same account. Two accidents on Oshodi-Apapa Expressway Sunday led to the death of a driver while several were injured, one of whom is presently in a coma. The first crash which occurred at Ibalex Bus Stop, Ilasmaja between the early hours of 4 and 5 a.m. was as a result of a collision between a gravel-laden truck and a trailer carrying oil, while the second accident was between a Volkswagen commercial bus and a truck at the exact same spot. In the first accident, 4 people were injured when the truck conveying gravel hit the trailer loaded with oil. The trailer was marked KY153YTK; there were no numbers on the truck. The truck driver and motor-boys were said to have been trapped inside the vehicle for over 30 minutes before they were rescued and the injured were conveyed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja, by the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS). A Zimbabwean man identified as Freedom Nyathi has been jailed for 8 months after he was convicted of having sexual intercourse with a donkey. The 20-years-old who was charged with 'bestiality' recently appeared before the Zvishavane Magistrate Court, where he was sentenced. During the court hearing, Prosecutor Shiela Mpindu told the court that on March 17, Nyathi, was caught abusing the donkey by a man. He said the matter was then reported to the owner of the donkey who reported the matter to the police leading to Nyathi's arrest. Guilty of the crime, Nyathi told the court that he was a married man with a pregnant wife and didn't know what overcame him. Zvishavane Magistrate Shepherd Munjanja who presided over case frown at his plea and sentenced him to 8months in Prison. A five-year-old boy was reportedly almost killed after a pencil impaled his chest and narrowly missed puncturing a major artery in his heart. The boy, whose name was not revealed, reportedly tripped while holding the pencil when he fell on it. His parents rushed him to Lianjiang People’s Hospital near their home in South China’s Guangdong Province before medics advised that he be transferred to Central People’s Hospital of Zhanjiang. Once there, surgeons worked to safely remove the pencil, which was .2 inches away from causing a fatal injury. Dai Ming, head of the department of cardiothoracic surgery, told Asia Wire that the tip of the pencil pierced the boy’s superior vena cava. Ming said that the boy’s parents acted heroically in seeking help rather than attempting to remove the pencil at home.

Angry supporters of Late Senator Adeleke collapsed a canopy on Gov. Amosun, Gov. Akeredolu, and others to chase out a commissioner nominee of Governor Rauf Aregbesola. A canopy where APC Governors; Ibikunle Amosun, Rotimi Akeredolu and Olagunsoye Oyinlola where sitting during the burial of former governor of Osun State, Senator Adeleke, was collapsed by some angry supporters who attempted to chase out Idiat Babalola, who is a commissioner nominee of Governor Rauf Aregbesola. According to Punch newspaper, Babalola who was seated among the dignitaries including the younger brother of the deceased, Deji Adeleke, was chased out by the youths who alleged that the former governor was poisoned by some APC leaders. A 300-level student of Kwame Nkruman University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana, has been arrested for sodomizing a 10-year-old-girl. The hand of a baby who was thought to have died in the womb was amputated following a medical advice by a doctor in order to save the mother’s life. It was later discovered that after the amputation that the baby was very much alive. Read below as shared by Aishat Alubankudi: A man reportedly took his brother’s wife to the hospital and the Dr sought and obtained his consent to amputate the child’s hand and removed the baby since according to the Dr the baby had since died in the womb. On the medical advice that, that way the mother’s life could be saved, the baby’s hand was amputated and the baby was removed but only to realised that the baby was not only alive but heart and healthy.

Three female suicide bombers were on Monday intercepted in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital. One of the bombers detonated her bomb which claimed her life but the other two were shot dead while trying to flee. The three female suicide bombers attempted to enter Mamanti illage Jere local government area. “They were intercepted by Civilian JTF. In the process, one of the bombers detonated IED strapped to her body killing herself alone. The other two tried to escape but were shot dead by security personnel on duty.
