Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Tuesday visited Port-Harcourt, the Rivers State capital. In a video obtained by DAILY POST, Kanu was hailed in Igbo language by his admirers. Some called him ‘Igwee’ (King), while some referred to him as ‘Ebubedike’. Kanu is seen acknowledging the crowd’s cheer, while he was ushered into a waiting vehicle. The IPOB leader waved as the vehicle moved on, even as the crowd continued to shout his praises. His mission to the oil-rich state is not yet known. Meanwhile, IPOB has hinted that it will ride on the wings of the United Nations, UN, charters which allows group seeking secession to exploit civil disobedience in achieving its mandate of Biafra. IPOB said this in response to some Northern elders like Tanko Yakassai, who alleged that the group was calling for another civil war by insisting on the restoration of Biafra. Watch video below…

Ex-president Goodluck Jonathan on Monday hosted members of the Peoples Democratic Party Former Ministers' Forum in Abuja. Addressing them at the meeting,he urged them and all Nigerians to see unity of the country as paramount.He also said that nobody should play with the unity of Nigeria. Dino Melaye has taken to his Facebook page to react to news that INEC has received collated signatures from his constituents meant for his recall from the senate. INEC today took delivery of six bags containing 188, 588 signed petition for Dino's recall. Reacting via social media, Dino wrote; "It can not succeed. It is a hoax and absolute comedy of errors. I'm laughing at the stupidity of kogi state government. Many appointees will go to jail for forgery. Even dead people's names on the recall register. A governor who does not know what double registration is may not as well know the procedure for recall. Every lie has an expiry date. This comedy of errors will soon end. No shaking at all. This won't solve the problem of not paying salaries for over 15 months. No retreat no surrender. Truth is my only Defence".

  Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, on Friday in Ado Ekiti, said he would become the next president of Nigeria. The governor, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, boasted that he had the attributes to wrestle power from the President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress in 2019. Bindeshwar Pathak, International founder and chief of NGO Sulabh, has announced that an open defecation-free (ODF) village in north Indian state Rajasthan's Mewat region will be named after US President Donald Trump. "I announce to name one village in India as Trump Village," Sulabh International founder said at a community event organised in the suburbs of Washington DC.  According to him, the move is part of his effort to enhance India-US relationship. This morning, the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) dismissed the charges of false asset declaration against Senate President, Bukola Saraki. Chairman of the tribunal, Danladi Umar, in his ruling said the prosecution team had failed to provide sufficient evidence to prove that Saraki was indeed guilty of false asset declaration. The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) today discharged Saraki for lack of evidence to continue with the case and dismissed all 18 charges filed against him by the Federal Government. The two-panel tribunal headed by Justice Danladi Umar held that FG failed to prove essential elements of all the allegations it levelled against Saraki. The CCT also held that no reasonable tribunal would convict a defendant on the evidence led by the prosecution through its four witnesses. A San Francisco-based 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled against President Donald Trump’s Muslim travel ban dealing the business mogul turned politician a second big legal defeat on the policy in less than 21 days. The court ruled that Immigration is ‘not a one-person show’ and security not a ‘talismanic incantation’ for executive power, a development which helps keep the travel ban blocked.Judges Michael Hawkins, Ronald Gould and Richard Paez – all appointed by President Bill Clinton – said the travel ban violated immigration law by discriminating against people based on their nationality. Recall that, a 4th US Circuit Court of Appeals in Virginia last month cited the president’s campaign statements calling for a “total and complete shutdown” on Muslims entering the US as evidence the 90-day ban was unconstitutionally “steeped in animus and directed at a single religious group”, rather than necessary for national security.

House of Representatives   A House of Representatives panel has summoned the chief executive officers of MTN, Glo, Airtel, Etisalat and Intel to appear before it tomorrow over the massive job losses in the telecoms sector.   The committee on telecommunications, chaired by Saheed Fijabi (APC,  Oyo ), said the five service providers have questions to answer regarding their recent actions of sacking many Nigerians  without  justifiable cause.   The five companies would also respond to queries on their failure to remit to government coffers, actual taxes as a result of their activities in Nigeria.   Fijabi said their invitation followed the inability of the CEOs to appear before the committee. He told Daily Trust in  Abuja  yesterday that the committee would not accept representatives of the CEOs; as such persons cannot provide satisfactory explanations.

A member of the Northern Elders Forum, Usman Bugaje has claimed that there is no oil producing state in Nigeria. He said Nigeria is the only oil producing state, adding that no state in the country should lay claim to the natural resources. According to Bugaje who was addressing the elders forum, the north is the only region in Nigeria that could lay claim to the oil because of its landmass. He said 72% of the country’s landmass belongs to the north and by United Nation’s law, it is only the north that has the right to claim ownership of the oil.
