With its large,heavy bill and pink,almost naked vulture-like head and neck,the marabou is one of the uglier. Storks. It stand 4 ft high with a wingspan of over 8 ft. the back,wings and tail are dark grey as are the long legs, and the underpart are white. A most unattractive pink, fleshy pouch dangles from the throat. This is apparently part of the respiratory system but has now become a secondary sexual character, rather like the wattles of domestic  chickens. The marabou is found in Africa from Sudan and Ethiopia to zambia,being especially common in east Africa. closely related to its are the adjutant and lesser adjutant storks of Asia from india to Borneo. The name adjutant has also been given to the marabou,possibly because of the stork's pompous strutting gait.

Covenant Dako, a security guard with a restaurant in FESTAC Town, Lagos State, escaped death by a whisker after he was attacked by an angry mob for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old girl.
