the martial eagle

The martial eagle is the largest of the African 

eagle. like many other it bears a crest.it has long wings and a relatively short tail and in flight can confused with only one other eagle,the serpent eagle. The upperparts are dark grey with light grey bars on wings and tail.The underpart,including the feather 'leggings'are white,barred and spotted with black. The bill is black and legs and toes,which are armed with long curved talons,are blue-grey. the tota wingspan may be as much as 8 ft. The females have larger spans than the males and are more powerfully built. They are easily distinguished,being more spotted on the underpart than the males. The martial eagle lives in African from the southern borders of the Sahara to the cape,but not in the thickly forested region such as the congo.
